Secondary Hemostasis – The Coagulation Cascade

Consequences linked to deficiencies in coagulation factors;

  1. Coagulation does not proceed at its usual pace, it is much slower than normal.

  2. Activation of subsequent factors may be delayed or inhibited all together.

  3. The time required for a clot to form is prolonged.

  4. The breach fails to seal, and free bleeding continues.
