Accurate and complete recordkeeping of workplace violence is vital for every institution. These records can help identify and correct security problems, evaluate the current violence prevention program, and reveal trends of violence.
OSHA recommends employers keep records of:
- Violent patients
- Training provided to employees on security and workplace violence
- Any workplace violence not resulting in injury
Also, OSHA has a recordkeeping rule which requires employees to report all work related injuries, illnesses, or "near miss" events that could have caused an injury or illness.
