Similar symptoms are seen in anaplasmosis as that of Rock Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) and ehrlichiosis:
- Fever
- Shaking chills
- Severe headache
- Malaise
- Myalgia
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Loss of appetite
- Cough
Most cases of anaplasmosis are mild and self-limiting. However, the infection can be fatal if the patient is of advanced age, immunosuppressed, has a malignancy, or has a chronic inflammatory disease. Rash is seen in 60% of children but only 30% of adults.
