Tumor Marker

A tumor marker (biomarker) is a detectable or measurable substance, which is produced by the cells of a tumor or by the host in response to the tumor. It can be used to differentiate the tumor from normally dividing tissue. Such measurable substances may be found in blood, urine, other body fluids, tissue samplings, or cellular cultures.
