Probes

To perform FISH, we must have a probe labeled with a fluorescent tag. A probe is a specific sequence of DNA that has been labeled with a fluorescent dye. The fluorescent dye serves as a "reporter" molecule. The fluorescent signal can be enumerated within the cell of interest.
