Plasmodium falciparum schizont and gametocyte forms

P. falciparum schizont in thin smear. Schizonts are rarely seen in the peripheral blood but when seen can contain 8-24 merozoites.
P. falciparum gametocyte in thin smear. The gametocytes of P. falciparum are crescent or banana shaped.
