Introduction to Primary Hemostasis

Primary hemostasis is considered the starting point for the hemostatic response mounted by the body subsequent to vascular damage. Its activation serves as a trigger for ensuing hemostatic processes, as the mechanisms are all interrelated.

Primary hemostasis consists of two key parts:
  1. The vascular system
  2. Platelets (thrombocytes)
