Further Analyses for Coagulation Inhibitors

Factor-specific inhibitors, such as anti-Factor VIII, should also be considered when attempting to identify a coagulation factor inhibitor.
Titers can be performed for the antibody in question to quantify the inhibitor and determine the extent of the antibody proliferation. These tests are called Bethesda titer assays. These tests use a universal inhibition unit in measuring factor-specific antibody activity. The appropriate dosing of medications may be measured based on these titer results.
