Dysplastic Megakaryocytic Cell Line (Dysmegakaryopoiesis)

Normal megakaryocytes measure approximately 20-90 µm in diameter and have a multilobed nucleus (please refer to the image on the right).
Dysplastic megakaryocytes are:
  • Micro-megakaryocytes: smaller than 20 µm
  • Hypolobated megakaryocytes: megakaryocytes with two attached lobes
  • Monolobated megakaryocytes: megakaryocytes with a single lobe
  • Megakaryocytes with separated nuclei: megakaryocytes with lobes completely separated
Examples of Dysplastic Megakaryocytic Cells:
Hypo-lobated megakaryocyte
Micromegakaryocyte
Megakaryocytes with separated nuclei
Monolobated megakaryocyte
