Lab Coats

Protective lab coats or cover gowns will be provided for use during procedures where splashing or spraying of blood or body fluids onto the courier is a possibility. As with gloves, the use of a lab coat for a courier should be a rare occurrence unless actual specimen processing is performed in the lab setting.
Disposable lab coats may be worn for a period of time not to exceed seven days or until contaminated with blood or body fluids.
Your name should be written on reusable lab coats with a marker along with the date that you put it into service.
The coat must be worn with the front snaps snapped. The sleeves must not be pushed up and gloves must cover the cuff of the coat to provide complete protection. Coats must be knee length or longer. They must not be cut off to make them shorter.
