Given the wide range of genetic variations possibly involved in ASD with the potential of interplays between various genes and between genes and environmental factors, there is an increasing interest and support for the use of genetic testing to assess ASD and other developmental delay disorders. Moreover, recent improvement in the technology for the analysis of genes and targeted mutations involved in ASD has led to increase availability of genetic testing for the clinician. There appears to be growing support within the medical community that the use of genetic testing is clinically valid to assess ASD and other developmental delay disorders
