All older adults over the age of 65 and those under the age of 65 with three or more of the following risk factors should be screened for osteoporosis.
Non - Changeable FactorsChangeable Factors
Advanced age Tobacco use
Female Decreased Calcium and Vitamin D intake
White or Asian race BMI <21
Low bone mass Estrogen deficiency
Family history Use of glucocorticoids
History of previous fractures
Low BMI
