Terry Jo Gile, MT(ASCP)MA Ed. "The Safety Lady" has over 40 years experience as a certified medical technologist. She has a bachelor's degree in Biology from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and a master's degree in Education from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. For 20 years she was a member of the management team at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Department of Laboratories in St. Louis, Missouri, and served as the Safety Officer as well as a laboratory safety consultant to the BJC Health System.

As President of her own consulting firm, Safety Lady LLC, she is a world renowned speaker and consultant who helps organizations create safety savvy laboratories. Terry Jo understands the complex safety issues facing laboratories today including Chemical Hygiene, Bloodborne Pathogens, Formaldehyde, Ergonomics, Tuberculosis and the handling of diagnostic and infectious specimens for transport. She has received the Outstanding Speaker Award from the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC)

Mrs. Gile is the author of four books published by the Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA). She has seven CD-ROM safety training packages produced by MediaLab, Inc. She also has three books published by Avatar Press including her children's book about safety titled "Tulip Plays It Safe". Her compliance training video, “Who Wants to be Compliant?” based on a popular game show, won a Telly award. Her recent books published by HCPro, Inc. include “Lab Safety Training Made Simple” in 2006 and “Complete Guide to Laboratory Safety – Second Edition”, in 2007. She has four widely popular training DVDs that provide compliant safety training that meets OSHA, DOT, IATA and accreditation requirements.

She is past President of the St. Louis Chapter of the National Speakers Association (NSA), former Safety Exam Chair for the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), and is a past board member of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA).
