Summer Evening (in Vermont)
The rivulets hasten with clinging sound
deeper and deeper into the ground.
The birds are singing, the sun shines bright,
I feel so peaceful, happy, and light.
I hear the silence in the trees,
around the flowers hum the bees,
the air is clear, the breeze is cool,
oh world, you are so beautiful!
On woods and meadows dusk sinks down
enveiling us in its silken gown.
A distant sighing here and there,
I hear the silence everywhere.
The moon returns to his nightly task,
he shines on us, we cannot ask.
Deep the shadows, high and low,
time is passing still and slow.

La riveretoj hastas sonorile
Profunden—pli profunden—el la vid'.
Kantas birdoj, suno lumas brile,
Regas cxie pac', felicx', kaj rid'.
Silenton inter arboj mi ja auxdas,
Abelo zumas cxirkaux bela flor'.
Purajn aeron, venton mi aplauxdas:
Belas mondo rekte al la kor'.
Super arb', kampar', krepusko venas,
Vestas nin per silka plusxkomfort'.
Fora suspirado nun min benas,
Silenton auxdas mi, ho bela sort'!
La luno faras cxiunoktlaboron--
Li superlumas nin ecx sen demand'.
Profundaj ombroj kovras mian koron,
Tempo pasas dolcxe en cxi land'.

Suspiroj distancaj, blovetoj de vent'
Obtuzas, mallauxtas gxis restas silent'.
La luno dejxoras fidela al dev'
alporti lumeton al fulga planed'.
Cxieas la ombroj kaj dormas la mond'.
