Introduction

Elimination of Tuberculosis (TB)

In 1989, the CDC Advisory Committee for Elimination of TB set an interim target for 2000 of 3.5 cases per 100,000 population.

This interim target was not met; the actual case rate for 2000 was 5.8 cases per 100,000 population.

The goal is for elimination of TB by 2010.
