Semen analysis is important for several reasons:
- To determine whether compromised semen parameters contribute to infertility
- To confirm that vasectomy has reduced sperm count to zero
- To confirm the presence of sperm following reversal of vasectomy
- To confirm or refute the presence of sperm in cases where rape is suspected or paternity is in question
