  • Prolonged bleeding time may indicate:
  • Reduced numbers of platelets.
  • Poorly functioning platelets, or:
  • Medications such as aspirin, which inhibit platelet function, have been recently taken.
  • Abnormal blood vessels may also prolong bleeding time.
