About Fires: Three Classes of Fire

Class A

  • Class A fires involve ordinary combustible materials such as paper, wood, or cloth.
  • Extinguish a Class A fire with water or an all purpose dry chemical extinguisher (ABC).
  • Be sure to drown a Class A fire as it tends to smolder for long periods of time.
