Potentially infectious body fluids

These substances are considered potentially infectious for an occupational exposure:

  • blood
  • cerebrospinal fluid
  • synovial fluid
  • pleural fluid
  • peritoneal fluid
  • pericardial fluid
  • amniotic fluid
  • any body fluid visibly contaminated with blood
  • semen or vaginal fluid
  • tissues removed during surgery.
