Electrophoresis
Support Media

Care is required in handling electrophoresis support media. Touching the gel can leave harmful fingerprints or poking the gel in sample application can damage the formation of separated bands. Some gels require presoaking; these need to be lightly blotted because the excess water can mar band formation.
