| False Positive Ketone Results False positive ketone results may be seen in patients after BSP or PSP dye injection due to the phthaleins. The presence of L-DOPA metabolites, some urine preservatives (e.g. 8-hydroxyquinaline), or high levels of phenylketones will also cause false positive results.
