New: User Forums coming 12/16

Did you know that MediaLab is used by more than 330,000 laboratory professionals across the United States and Canada? Over 1,200 laboratories use our Compliance & CE features, over 500 laboratories manage their policies and procedures on Document Control, and nearly 70% of all students taking the MLS or MLT ASCP Board of Certification exam use our Exam Simulator. We're so thankful for the community that's grown around our software.

On 12/16, MediaLab will release a new feature called User Forums so that MediaLab users can talk to each other. You'll be able to ask questions and start discussions (perhaps about how to do something in MediaLab, perhaps about another area of the lab that you want feedback on from the community), respond to others' needs and questions, and pick the brains of the more than 330,000 users that participate in MediaLab. We field almost 8,000 support tickets per year, and the knowledge in those tickets will be searchable as well. Chances are, someone else has already had the same question that you have, and you'll be able to get answers faster and easier.

MediaLab support staff will actively participate in the User Forums. We'll moderate each post before it becomes publically visible to ensure that certain issues are routed to the right department, bugs can get fixed, usernames and personal info don't get accidentally shared, etc.

Posts and replies to the User Forums will only be visible to logged-in MediaLab users. They won't be generally publically accessible.

By default, all MediaLab users will be able to view and post in the new User Forums. But we understand that your organization may want to opt out. To do that, go to "Users" > "Change Options," and then click on "Customer Support." You can select if your users should be able to post in forums, view forums (but not post), or if forums should be completely hidden. You can also select certain users that will have access to the forums (perhaps you want your administrative team to have access but not the bulk of your users). Users can also choose to participate in the forums using their actual name (as shown in MediaLab) or anonymously (a generic identifier).

User Forums are not yet available. They will be available on 12/16. Options to set who can or cannot see user forums are available now, so that you can set your preferences before the forums go live. Take a minute now to make the changes if you don't want your users to be able to see or post in the new User Forums.

Since the User Forum feature does not functionally impact the performance or features of any of our applications (it's a helpful tool that is an adjuct to them), we won't be changing version numbers on Document Control, Compliance & CE, InspectionProof, or any of our other applications, and we don't foresee the need for any additional validation steps on these products as a result of the User Forums addition.

Questions or Comments?

Send a message to support@medialabinc.net.

We hope that the new User Forums will help you to mine the knowledge of thousands of other MediaLab users, get tips on best practices and strategies, search for tech support issues, and be a valuable collaborative tool.

Thanks again for your MediaLab subscription.

-Tim
