Address CLIA '88 recommendations

Even if your employees aren't required to complete continuing education by your state, CLIA '88 still recommends that all laboratory personnel consider continuing education to help skill their knowledge and skills up-to-date. ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Credits

MediaLab offers American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) Professional Acknowledgment for Continuing Education® (P.A.C.E.®) credits for all 57 courses. P.A.C.E.® credits are widely recognized in the clinical laboratory profession and can be used to fulfill most continuing education requirements. P.A.C.E.® credits are appropriate for CLIA '88 recommendations, state licensure, certification agencies and employers. MediaLab is P.A.C.E.® provider number #578.

P.A.C.E.® credits are accepted by:

• American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
• National Credentialing Agency for Clinical Laboratory Personnel (NCA)

P.A.C.E.® credits are also accepted by all states that require continuing education for laboratory license renewal:

• California (12 CE hours required every year)
• Florida (amount varies by license type) - Board of CLS Credits, also provided by MediaLab
• Louisiana (12 CE hours required every year)
• Montana (14 CE hours required every year)
• Nevada (10 CE hours required every year)
• North Dakota (20 CE hours required every two years)
• Rhode Island (30 CE hours required every two years)
• Tennessee (24 CE hours required every two years)
• West Virginia (10 CE hours required every year)

States not listed either do not require clinical laboratory personnel to be licensed by the state or do not require continuing education as part of the licensing, certification, or renewal process (Georgia, Hawaii). However, residents of all states may still need to complete continuing education for AMT, ASCP, NCA, or employer requirements and recertifications.

Credits for the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Science Personnel

In addition to P.A.C.E. credits®, nearly all of MediaLab's courses also carry Florida credits, which satisfy the requirements of the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Science. Subscribers that provide a Florida license number will have their Florida credits reported directly to CEBroker, Florida's computerized system for tracking continuing education. MediaLab also offers several Florida-specific courses required of all CLS licensees, including HIV Safety, Laws and Rules of the Florida Board, and Medical Error Prevention.
